A BASE, A NEW PICTURE and the "BLOGS-GAMES".....

hello!

1-The Base:
Sometimes ago for this message: After The Battle,  I've used a natural rock with moss. Some of you here or on Benno's asked me to show it ... I've done, one month later (!), some pictures:

2-The new Picture:
I've done some "work" on a picture by using the Photobucket's tools:

On Benno's forum, an excellent work from Cole (White Syke Close) has started an interesting discussion  about the "special effects" on pictures.

Sometimes I've used that for some works but it's not usual.

The question is:
"Is it a new work or only an effect without interest???"
What do you think ?

3-"Blogs-Games":

On different blogs I follow, we can find this time some "Games" with a give-aways!
-on Don't throw a 1 for the 1.250.000 hits, Ray ("The So-Nice Man") offers 5  figures painted with his magic hands!
-3 books (!) on Kingsleypark's Wargaming Menagerie  for celebrating the 50 followers....

It's very nice, and I'm sure that this kind of game will be frequent in the Blog-World!!!

I just can recommend to have a look on their blogs and read the rules and play!
You will not loose your time because they are very good blogs!

  2. I really like the photos retouched black and white, I find that gives a sense of "old" to the figure of the knight. Dear Sam, nothing is without interest and ideas are always pleasant. All the best my friend

  3. Very nice to see how you did it (and great work too)! It is fun to play with pictures in Photobucket/Photoshop/Powerpoint/whatever, but it can not take away if a work is good or bad. If I see a picture that someone worked on in some program I can love it still, but I want to see the original too. I think Cole's work was wonderful and it was a favourite. Maybe I can allow that kind of work in competitions because I don't have a chance winning them, but I think I would feel the same in a duel (I know I would :-D). By the way, you've still got mail. :-D

  4. You're a painter and an artist so using a filter or an effect on a photograph is a legitimate expression of the work. I think we're all creative people and I see the photography as another way of expressing creativity and originality. If someone asks to see the figure on it's own they can ask, but I don't think it's always necessary.

in fact I don't show only the retouched photo, so it's another work like some of you are saying.

  5. I just went and looked at Coles work. Masterful to say the least. I like what he did with the photo's because it gave a sense of realism to the setting and also gave a cinematic look to the picture. In this case seeing the original pieces was a bonus because they were so well done.

  6. The use of a rock for the base is so clever! But the weight...

About the photos, as long as the photoshop techniques aren't used to hide bad painting works, they are welcome.

    Cheers

    1. I use the rock only for showing a new figure or a new range: it's not a finished work itself!

  7. Salut Sam,
Pour ma part, un peu de photoshop sans retouche de la figurine, cela me semble très sympa, de temps en temps seulement bien sûr. En l'occurence, j'aime beaucoup ton côté vieille photo...
    A+.
