"Monks" (KAMAR 1/72)

I needed a little break in my "Hobbit Quest", so I've done a short retreat in a monastery ....
Those KAMAR figures are not the best ones in the world, but they exist ! (there's not a lot of monks in 1/72 !). I think that the one with the donkey is better than the others (I was thinking to Cadfael, a BBC serie which is very interesting and which I like a lot). I've tried to find the details of the faces and I didn't find them....
Well, I've done  the best I can, but the result is............. (complete the sentence !)

J'avais besoin d'une petite pause dans ma "Hobbit Quest", alors j'ai fait une courte retraite dans un monastère ....
Ces figurines Kamar ne sont pas les meilleurs au monde, mais elles existent! (il n'y a pas beaucoup de moines au 1/72!). Je pense que celui avec l'âne est mieux que les autres (je pensais à Cadfael, une série BBC qui est très intéressante et que j'aime beaucoup). J'ai essayé de trouver les détails des visages et je ne les ai pas trouvés ....
Eh bien, j'ai fait du mieux que je peux, mais le résultat est ............. (compléter la phrase!)

"The Hobbit" (10) Thorin Oakenshield (MITHRIL M155)

Another personality of "The Hobbit" !
He does not look like the Thorin of the movie (!) but IT'S Thorin because he looks like a dwarf and not like a human ! As soon I will have finished the whole range (well... not all!) I will take a picture with all the characters I've painted yet. (I must finish Gandalf for the #10 ).

But....who is Thorin?

 Thorin II Oakenshield was a dwarf, son of Thráin II and grandson of King Thrór,  heir of the line of Durin. He managed to escape with his father and grandfather when Smaug attacked Erebor and the forced into exile with his family in the country of Dun.
During the War between Dwarves and Orcs, Thorin distinguished himself at the Battle of Dimrill.  
His shield was broken during the battle and then grabbed an oak branch as to protect themselves from blows and to kill his enemies. Therefore, he was nicknamed "Thorin Oakenshield." 
After the battle, he followed his father in Eriador and in the Blue Mountains where they grew rich slowly, keeping the hope of one day recover their treasure.
On the death of his father, he became King of Durin's Folk at the age of 95 years.
Heir without hope of the Kingdom of his fathers, Thorin began to mount an expedition to recover his property, advised by Gandalf and accompanied by a young hobbit named Bilbo Baggins .........

 Thorin II Écu-de-Chêne était un nain, fils de Thráin II et petit-fils du Roi Thrór, héritier de la lignée de Durin. Il parvint à s'échapper avec son père et son grand père lorsque Smaug attaqua l'Erebor et dut s'exiler avec les siens dans le pays de Dun.
Durant la Guerre entre les Nains et les Orques, Thorin se distingua à la Bataille de la Vallée des Rigoles Sombres. Son écu fut brisé lors de la bataille et il se saisit alors d'une branche de chêne tant pour se protéger des coups que pour tuer ses ennemis. Dès lors, on le surnomma « Thorin Écu-de-Chêne ». Après la bataille, il suivit son père en Eriador, puis dans les Montagnes Bleues où ils s’enrichirent lentement, tout en gardant l'espoir de recouvrer un jour leur trésor.
A la mort de son père, il devint Roi du Peuple de Durin à l'âge de 95 ans.
Héritier sans espoir du royaume de ses pères, Thorin entreprit de monter une expédition pour recouvrer ses biens, conseillé par Gandalf et accompagné d'un jeune hobbit prénommé Bilbo Sacquet......

No "great" pictures this time: I've got a new camera because we have been burgled a week ago, and my old good Nikon has disappeared ! (also the new one of my daughter, a Christmas gift has been robbed too!) and I've made just some quick shots because I'm not accustomed with the new one!

Who is The Master of Lake-town ????

"Master of Lake-town" is the tittle given to the elected leader of Esgaroth. The Master of the town when Bilbo and Thorin's Company arrived,  was portrayed as capable, but more than a little greedy and cowardly. His name was never given, although he earned the unpopular title "money bags" later. He was one of the few people in the town who did not eagerly welcome Bilbo and the Dwarves, fearing reprisal from the Wood Elf King. (from wikipedia.uk).

Pas de  photos «sympas» cette fois: j'ai un nouvel appareil parce que nous avons été cambriolé il y a une semaine, et mon bon vieux Nikon a disparu! (également le nouveau de ma fille, un cadeau de Noël a été volé aussi!) et j'ai fait juste quelques clichés rapides parce que je ne suis pas habitué avec le nouveau!

Qui est Le Maître du lac-ville???
"Maître de Lac-ville"est le titre donné au chef élu d'Esgaroth. Le maître de la ville où la Bilbo et la Compagnie de Thorin sont arrivés, a été décrit comme capable, mais surtout comme un gourmand et un poltron. Son nom n'a jamais été donné même si  plus tard il a gagné  le titre impopulaire de «sac à monnaie» . Il fut l'un des rares personnes dans la ville qui n'a pas ardemment accueilli Bilbo et les nains, craignant des représailles du roi des Elfe des Bois. (à partir de wikipedia.uk).

"Hobbit Scout on Pony" LoTR/SDA (MITHRIL M60)

"After the War of The Ring, in the 4rd Age, it was necessary to take care of our lovely Shire.
Meriadoc Brandybuck, my old friend, became, at the death of his father, Master of Buckland and married Estella Bolger, with whom he had a son and was appointed Advisor to the Northern Kingdom by King Elessar. He had in charge to protect our small country of the bands of surviving orcs and also of bandits (Humans were not all very good !).
A company of Hobbits Scouts was created to explore and spy the eventual enemies. The majority of them were from  the Took Family, not a surprise in fact!
But my youngest child, Frodo Gamgee,  always fascinated by our adventures, was one of them: the brave "Scouts of the Shire", or "The Adventurers" like many Hobbits called them.
They were good assistants and friends of all the "King Elessar Watchers" who have patrolled in the Borders .
Maybe, it was  my preferred son..... "

"Après la Guerre de l'Anneau, au 4ème Âge, il était nécessaire de prendre soin de notre belle Comté.
Meriadoc Brandebouc, mon vieil ami, est devenu, à la mort de son père, maître du Pays de Bouc et épousa Estella Bolger, avec qui il a eu un fils et a été nommé Conseiller du Royaume du Nord par le Roi Elessar. Il avait en charge de protéger notre petit pays des bandes d'orcs survivants et aussi de bandits (les Grandes Gens ne sont pas tous très bons!).
Une compagnie de Scouts Hobbits a été crée pour explorer et  espionner les ennemis éventuels. La majorité d'entre eux étaient de la famille Touque , pas une surprise, en fait!
Mais mon plus jeune enfant, Frodo Gamgee, toujours fasciné par nos aventures, était l'un d'entre eux, les courageux "Scouts  de la Comté", ou "Les Aventuriers" comme de nombreux Hobbits les appelaient.
Ils étaient de bons assistants et des amis de tous les "Veilleurs du Roi Elessar" qui patrouillaient dans les Bordures.
Il était peut-être aussi mon fils préféré ..... "

"The Hobbit" (8) GALADRIEL (Mithril M1)

It's an important character of the Lord of the Rings and who also appears  in the Peter Jackson's movie :"The Hobbit", even if we don't find it in the Tolkien's Book! She is the wife of Celeborn (who is supposed to take part at "The White Council" !), their daughter, Celebrian, was married with Elrond.
She was tall, and her very beautiful hairs were golden blond. (it's said that they inspired Feänor for creating the light of the Silmarils....)
C'est un personnage important du Seigneur des Anneaux et de toute l'histoire de la Terre du Milieu  qui apparaît aussi dans le film de Peter Jackson : "The Hobbit", même si nous ne le trouvons pas dans le livre de Tolkien! Elle est l'épouse de Celeborn (qui est censé participer au "Le Conseil Blanc"!), leur fille, Celebrian, était mariée avec Elrond.
Elle était grande, et ses cheveux très beaux étaient blond doré. (on dit qu'ils ont inspiré Fëanor pour créer la lumière des Silmarils ....)

 It's said also that one of her other name (in Ireland) was: "Gal'Anne O'Driel" but I didn't find a good source for this information! If anyone have one, please tell me!
On dit aussi que l'un de ses autres noms (en Irlande) était: "Gal'Anne O'Driel" mais je n'ai pas trouvé une bonne source pour cette information! Si quelqu'un a une, s'il vous plaît dites-moi!

"The Hobbit" (7) Gollum (GW)

I can't miss this important character of the Books (both "The Hobbit" and "The Lord of the Ring" !) It's an Hobbit (not the same group than the Shire's Hobbits ) and his real name is Smeagol. It's difficult to write all his history here, but I add some links to descriptions (in English and in French).

This time it's a GW figure, because I didn't have a Mithril one when I started this project...
I've got one since  and maybe I will paint it too: interesting for another comparison!
In fact, here, it's the Gollum of "The Lord of the Rings": he has scars on his back and looks exactly like the Gollum of the Movie.
Je ne peux pas rater ce personnage important des livres (à la fois «The Hobbit» et «Le Seigneur des Anneaux"!) C'est un Hobbit (pas le même groupe que les Hobbits de la Comté) et son vrai nom est Sméagol. Il est difficile d'écrire toute son histoire ici, mais j'ajoute quelques liens vers des descriptions (en anglais et en français).
 Cette fois, c'est une figure GW, parce que je n'avais pas de Mithril quand j'ai commencé ce projet ...
J''en ai eu une depuis et peut-être que je vais la peindre aussi: intéressant pour la comparaison!
En fait, ici, c'est le Gollum du "Seigneur des Anneaux": il a des cicatrices sur son dos et ressemble exactement au Gollum du film.
