"My Hobbit Month" : SAM WISE (MITHRIL MB237) LOTR/SDA

After a lot of "REVIEWS", it's time to go back into the subject of the month!
In fact, it's not a character of "THE HOBBIT"...
but it's a Hobbit !
He's a part of the MITHRIL Box set "The Fellowship of the Ring"
(yet only 8 figures of the box to paint!)

REVIEW 8 "ROGER'S RANGERS" (Waterloo 1815) + BUM/ITALERI "Huron's duel"

It will be a very quick review! I've almost nothing to say about this set, except that:

-20 figures in 10 poses (equivalent of 2 sprues), that's a very correct number.
-the sculpt is very good, in my opinion, and the poses are very dynamic.
Like often, they are all "fighting figures", even of "close-combat", so it's very difficult to use them in another way!
The picture on PSR ( link ) are better than mine.....

Wikipedia :
Rogers' Rangers was an independent company of colonial militia, attached to the British Army during the Seven Years War (called the French and Indian War in the United States). The unit was informally trained by Major Robert Rogers as a rapidly deployable light infantry force tasked with reconnaissance and conducting special operations against distant targets. Their military tactics were so bold and effective that the unit became the chief scouting unit of British Crown forces in the late 1750s. The British valued them highly for gathering intelligence about the enemy.

..........For those who are interested, a small picture with an ITALERI "Indians Warriors" and a BUM "Huron": the Bum's one is a little smaller than the ITALERI's one .... and is ugly !

That's all Folks!

REVIEW 7 - "HURON HUT" (BUM 2007)

... I make a break with my "Hobbit Month" for a short review of another BUM's set.

"Huron Hut" (Plastic Soldier Review) is an interesting set, but, I've not the chance to have the woman sitting in my box!!

For the other figures,  like in the boxes of  the "Canadian Trampers" ( Review 7 ), I have the same sprue of Hurons, but nevertheless the others are not so bad.

2 men sitting, but no woman

a small vignette "ready to paint" !!

not a bad hut, it seems (resin)

My favourite lovely Hurons!
and a comparison between ITALERI "Indians Warriors" (PSR link ) for my friend Peter ( Peter's Cave): the BUM's figures are a little bit smaller than the ITALERI :

the next REVIEW will be the WATERLOO 1815 "Rogers Rangers"

"The HOBBIT" (3) - BARD of Lake-Town - (MITHRIL M235)

BARD of Lake-Town  - BARD de Lac-Ville

Another MITHRIL figure for one of the characters of the book "The Hobbit" !
(I insist: nothing to see with the movie, that I didn't see yet....)
Like always I've felt completely free about the colours!

<< Their captain was Bard, grim-voiced and grim-faced, whose friends had accused him of prophesying floods and poisoned fish, though they knew his worth and courage. He was a descendant in long line of Girion, Lord of Dale, whose wife and child has escaped down the Running River from the ruin long ago.

"THE HOBBIT" (2) THRANDUIL- (MITHRIL M234)

I've said before that December will be my "Hobbit-Month", so I start with one MITHRIL figure:
Be careful!
I will post here only Books references and you could find too some spoilers !

<<In a great hall with pillars hewn out of the living stone sat the Elvenking on a chair of carven wood. On his head was a crown of berries and red leaves, for the autumn was come again. In the spring, he wore a crown of woodland flowers. In his hand he held a carven staff of oak.>>

J.R.R.Tolkien, Bilbo the Hobbit / Bilbo le Hobbit, Chap. 9.

THRANDUIL :

"Thranduil first appears in The Hobbit as the Elvenking, when Bilbo and the Dwarves enter his realm in the northern part of  Mikwood. The Dwarves are captured by Thranduil's guards and locked in his dungeons when they refuse to divulge their intentions. The Dwarves were rescued by Bilbo, who had remained in hiding with his use of a magic Ring ....
(..... )
Thranduil was the father of Legolas, a supporting character in The Lord of the Rings...."
(Wikipedia.uk)

MY "LIEBSTER BLOG AWARDS" ....

for the awards: only 5 blogs with less than 200 followers??
I have done my best, but I've chosen  some very good blogs which are more or less known and that I like a lot:
I've broken the rules, because I've chosen 6 blogs!! I've tried to mix "well-known blogs" and "less-known blogs" but they are all great !!
(I must say too that I've missed some blogs which already have their awards !)

 "Michigentile Micro World"
I think it's not a surprise to see the blog of Michele in my list!
Maybe you remember the small range of figures ("Figures for Michele") that I've painted for his Great Diorama :"The Day of the Tournament"?
Michele is a great modeller and also a very good painter, but he's almost a very nice man too and maybe it's the more important ?
The Day of the Tournament" ?

 "Lonewolf's Welten"
Bruno is first a Great Painter, that's sure: all what it's under his brush is awesome! He is also an experimented photographer and his blog is very beautiful. Like "my other Awards", he's a very, very kind man and it's always a pleasure for me to read his nice comments...

WesternNCity Scale Layout
even if you're not very interested with Trains and things like that, this blog (and François Simon!) is a very interesting one: not only trains, but also well converted and painted figures for his great project: François is also a talented terrain modeller and there is a lot to learn with him . (french language).

I LIKE the things I LIKE!
Scott   does an unusual work, he's telling stories with 54mm figures (MARX, ...) and conversions, so ... "I like the things he like!"

"Wargaming with Barks"
November was a Hobbit month and Barks has done a perfect painting work on some GW Hobbits!
Barks is a wargamer, but not only : the painting standard is in a high level!

I'm sorry for all those I didn't chose but it was too difficult! To be honest, I could have 30 blogs and more in my list ...
So thanks to Anne (Anne's Attic), Ray (Don't throw a 1), Paul (Paul's Bods),  who have too much followers ! Peter (Peter's Cave), Phil ("Association Les Riflemen"), Furabianu ("Des figurines, du Jeu et du Fun!"), Mehapito ("Au Bord du Fleuve"),  David ("Marechal a 1:72")

Liebster Blog Award !!!!!!!

I've got one !!!!!! from Ni. Tchirititch ("Nowwhere to Lead Soldiers")

Please, just read his description about my humble blog:

"This one is not a wargaming blog nor is it dedicated to 28mm figures, rather than that, it displays jewels of medieval and fantasy in 20mm, and some superb oldschool Mithrill miniatures of the LotR. I am always moved by the poetry of Sam's approach. Unique to my point of view."
I don't know if he's right but it's so nice !

If you don't know what is this Award :

"The rules:
 - "Copy and paste" the award on your blog, and talk about it a bit.
- Select for the award your five favourite blogs with less than 200 followers, leaving a comment on one of their post to notify them that they have won the award. You need also to list them in your own blog.
- Enjoy the moment, knowing that you have just made someone's day.
- Of course, there is no obligation to pass the award, but it is a good deed really."

I will post my own list in a next post because I must have time to choose the 5 ones:
very hard to do ! (I have "just" 90 followers and more that I follow !)
5 is not a lot when I see all the great blogs I like .......

MANY THANKS Ni. (Nikolai?) !!!

REVIEW 6 -BUM "Trampers" (Trappers?) 2053 / 2054

I've bought 3 BUM's boxes, because I was curious to see what they have put in them!
1-they are very expensive (about 20€, postage cost include )
2-I was not very enthusiast when I've opened the box.
3- I didn't have the resin base which is shown on PSR (cf link above) !!!!!!
4-but I must say that  the subject is very original in our scale and some figures are really nice,
except the ugly Hurons which have the bad habit to appear in each box of that serie!
Well, I will stop my "blabla" and let you see the pictures.

-The first one is "Canadian Trampers in winter dress"(2054)
  (PSR link)

the box with the art cover

I like the figures, even if 5 poses/6 is not a great deal...

not bad, but 2 dogs it's not enough for the sledge....

I've 2 vivacs now: one for winter.....

I love them!! so nice and well sculpted!

then, same subject but "Canadian Trampers in summer dress"(2053)

art box....

5 trappers + 1 awful dog

quite good figures, I like the one on the right!

.... and one vivac for summer !! yeah !

very large bridge: good for a truck!
no comment....
again my lovely Hurons!!
You can do all the comments (or not): it's not my own work! ($$$just my money!$$$)

You can do all the comments (or not): it's not my own work! ($$$just my money!$$$)

(Coming soon: "BUM's Hurons camp" and "Waterloo 1815: "Roger's Rangers")

Marketplace: I've 2 sprues of 6 hurons to sell !!!!!! very low prices!
