"In memoriam..."

One month ago, my father died ....
it was a difficult event for me and my family...
Very quickly, I thought that the Valdemar set "Death of the King" could be a good way to honour his memory.
Conny from Fredericus Rex has accepted to send me a set with a special Postage cost:
many thanks to him!
It's not the complete set I've choose to paint: I've added some other Valdemar's figures  and ignored some of the original set.
The 5 knights represent his 5 sons, the "Hospitaler" above the King (my father) represent all the persons who did their best for trying to cure him.
The colours are not "historically accurate": the blue is because it was his preferred colour and the red because he was a butcher and we all have grown with this colour around us .
The base is very simple: my father was a simple and kindly man.
Now the life must go on but I just want to say that I will never forget him....

jamais...

AMBUSH !!!

I'd painted the SIOUX
I'd painted the 7th CAVALRY

What could happen after ????????

?

By chance I found this old photography from an anonymous artist of the 19th century:

A very hard work (and a little bit of technology!) permitted us to show you those "modern" pictures:

at first, the retouched one which was the base for making the other pictures :

and now all the computer graphics pictures that we can do with it:

Many thanks to all the men (and women!)
who worked hard on this project!
and I hope that it will very important and useful for our knowledges about this fantastic period of our fantastic history:

7th CAVALRY (WATERLOO 1815)..........

................finished!!!
I'd only the shots to do... but not easy actually! (cold very cold weather!)

My first impression was at all wrong : it's a nice set and some poses are very good.
Only the horses necks are bad and their equipments are all the same! (it's like an army on campaign dressed for the parade!), but I'm afraid because I think they will be dead quickly:  they don't have a gourd !!

................ fini!

REVIEW III Comparisons for SIOUX (IMEX/WAT.1815 + Alternative HORSES)

... no time to take pictures of the finished 7th Cavalry (Waterloo 1815) ....
so I choose to post some comparisons between :
1- IMEX and WATERLOO 1815 Sioux sets
2-Some comparisons of other horses which can be used for
the SIOUX  or other "Native American" tribes.

1-IMEX against WATERLOO 1815:
I must precise before that the IMEX figures are mainly  foot-warriors: only 3 riders poses and 3 horses poses: Plastic Soldiers Review
For the WATERLOO 1 815 set  : Plastic Soldiers Review
(I didn't take a picture of the awful 3rd horse pose!!! I let you view it on PSR! )

The SIOUX  warriors : the IMEX ones look to be too thin with big horses
and the poses are just acceptable!
IMEX                      WATERLOO 1815                  IMEX

...and you can see that I didn't finished to paint the IMEX .....
who knows the reason....

2- some alternative horses for Indians Tribes  (SIOUX or other ones...)

Paul (Paul's Bods) suggested to me the
and I'd the idea to have a look at  the HAT Allied Alexander's Cavalry :
in this order from left to right :
WATERLOO 1815  (1)     HAT (2 )                 ZVEZDA (2)

and also the HAT Numidian Cavalry  :

Both of them could be very good Indians horses!!
(some swap to do on the special reins)

I hope that could be useful for you....

But the US Cavalry is coming... I'm scarred for the Sioux!!
who will win???

"Kingdom of Heaven" (Valdemar)

It's not a new Valdemar's set!!!
just something I've done with different figures of different set!!!
Saladin is an old figure from the VP serie.
For him I've based the painting on this picture:

Unfortunately I've ruined a little the figures with the plaster when I've made the vignette!!! (grrr!!!!!): I must find a new way to fix figures on base !!!!

Stop with discourse!

"The Pilgrims"-Valdemar-("old work but new pics!")

Yesterday, I'd decided to do some pictures of "old works" in daylight!!!!
This one is "the Pilgrims" from Valdemar:
it's one of my preferred set of this great manufacturer!
(I suppose it's an Alex sculpt....)

When I post it first at Benno's (April 2011) the tree was catastrophic,
so I'd made a new one....

if you are too lazy for going at Benno's (grrrrr...!!!)
just one ancient picture !

Games of Thrones (season 2 trailer) and ... French Bloggers !!!!!!!

.... I loved the 1srt season.... waiting now the second one!!!!
(and RR Martin's books "Songs of Ice and Fire" )
I want to share with you the trailer :

..... I just had a look at the " "La Figoblogotheque"  and I surfed quickly on some blogs (mainly in french ones...): all are Gamers Blogs!!!!
Is there someone in France who paint (and post in a blog!!!) something different?
Who paints 1/72 figures just for the pleasure of paint, for fun or even artistic or historical (no-Nappies!) interest???
It's strange....

*********************************

C'est étrange ....
